European Forum for Restorative Justice
LEUVEN, BELGIUM, 5 MARCH 2009
Dear friends of the European Forum for Restorative Justice,
We are happy to announce the forthcoming summer school entitled: “Towards Critical Restorative Justice Practices” which will take place in Barcelona from 20 to 24 July 2009.
We are very pleased to say that Prof. Gerry Johnstone of Hull University, United Kingdom, will facilitate the first day of the summer school on the theme: “Challenges for Practitioners and Trainers”. Professor Johnstone is highly respected for his research, writing and teaching in the field of restorative justice. He will be available during the summer school to assist participants to explore this theme and other issues that arise.
The summer school is aimed at trainers, practitioners/volunteers, researchers and programme managers in victim-offender mediation and other restorative justice practices.

We hope that you find the programme of interest. Do prepare in advance for the summer school by:
1) reading at least one of the recommended texts; 2) asking the restorative justice colleagues and stakeholders in your service, including victims and offenders, if there are critical issues that they would like you to raise at this year’s summer school on their behalf. You can then bring back the reflections of the summer school participants on these issues.
We look forward to welcoming you to Barcelona on 20 July for the best summer school ever!
